What is the Kruger National Park?
The Kruger National Park is one of the largest Game Reserves in Africa. You can view the Big 5, (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo) hundreds of other mammals and a variety of bird species.
Where is the Kruger Park Located?
The Park is located northeast of South Africa, east of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. Phalaborwa is the only town in South Africa that borders the Kruger Park.
When to visit the Kruger Park?
You can visit the Kruger Park at any time of the year but May to October is considered the best time. It’s usually dry, making it easy to spot animals.
June to August is considered to be a more comfortable time to visit the Kruger Park because it’s not so extremely hot. There’s also less mosquitoes.
During the “green season” you will spot summer born animals and a lot of bird species.
Our experience with the Kruger Park.
The Kruger Park was a truly remarkable place to visit. We saw so much. I loved the Elephants because they seem like such gentle giants. I took in everything. From the grass and trees to a centipede crossing the road. My youngest son, who absolutely loves birds took all the photos. Not too bad for a seven year old!
He refused to let go of the binoculars because he didn’t want to miss anything. This is not the best photo because we were in two different, moving cars.
The majestic lion, relaxing on his “throne” while watching over his “kingdom” was by far my favorite part of the trip.
Where did we stay?
We stayed with our wonderful Aunt and Uncle in Marloth Park. I’ll share one of the Guesthouses in Marloth Park with you, if you are interested in staying in Marloth Park.
Marloth Park borders the Kruger Park (or the other way around) which means it’s just as beautiful.
What we think about the Kruger National Park.
I wish we could have seen more. You need to get up bright and early to see enough of the Park. I don’t think you will be able to see everything on one visit because the Park is huge.
We want to go back as soon as possible. We saw so much but not nearly all there is to see.
What a wonderful place to visit as a family
