One minute you’re stuffing your face with bacon and the next you’re slumped over the toilet bowl. Maybe the bacon was off, it had a different smell. The next morning you stay away from the smelly bacon but lose your coffee in the same way.
Scared it might be a new virus, you rush to the doctor’s office. He asks you a bunch of questions, some not so comfortable but you answer them anyway. You need medication and will do whatever it takes.
You are directed to a bed where he examines your abdomen. While asking some more questions he hands you a container to pee in.
You try real hard to center it, making sure not to miss. The last thing you need right now is to pee on your hand. Men are so lucky! The doctor does his thing, looks at you and say: “Congratulations! You’re pregnant!”
This is the moment where you either wish it was a new virus or you take out your phone and tell everyone you know about the wonderful news.
You’re pregnant! Now what?
First of all I want to congratulate you. Being pregnant is a wonderful life-changing event. In a few months you will be holding the new love of your life.
Hubby might not be going through what you are but he’s just as concerned and scared as you. Don’t push him aside. He wants to be part of everything and you will need him during your pregnancy.
What to expect
Your body will be going through a few changes, some not so great but nothing to worry about.
In the beginning you won’t always be feeling well but the baby will be born soon and everything will return back to normal.Current
What you can look forward to
I don’t have to tell you that because you already know. No more eating whatever you like. From now on you eat whatever baby likes. (Not even born yet and already the boss)
Rest while you can. Soon what you experience as tiredness will transform into full blown fatigue.
Your beautiful nails
They tend to go brittle and break when you’re pregnant. Maybe it’s nature’s way of preventing you from gauging your baby’s eyes out.
They can be bad at times.Think of it this way, now you don’t have to lie to hubby and pretend you have a headache because you will really have one.
First you couldn’t keep anything down and now you’re like a worm. Stock up on everything you like and eat it before anyone else has a chance. You need to eat for your growing baby.
Pregnancy Stretch marks
I warned you about eating too much. You’ve eaten yourself out of house and seems like out of body too. Don’t worry, there’s some pretty nice creams available for stretch marks.
I don’t get this one. You have this huge bubble right in the center and you still trip over your own feet. Maybe it’s because you can’t see your feet anymore.
You should get into the habit of getting up slowly. It’s no fun having to get up twice.
This is the time where you should be wearing a “beware” sign. This way everyone in the house will know that you’re not feeling well and leave you alone. Especially your poor husband. For some reason all a pregnant woman’s anger is directed at her spouse.
Shortness of breath
Your growing tummy is making it difficult to breathe normally. You might even start to snore. If your hubby snores and he wants to complain tell him it’s pay back! As your baby is growing everything else needs to move to provide enough space. That’s why you will be out of breath after even short walks.
You not only have to waddle around like a penguin, you get back pain from doing so. If you stand for long periods, you get back pain. When you sit for long periods you get back pain. Pregnancy is no fun.
This one will not be going away. You are now part of the “mommy brain” or “pudding brain” gang. Welcome. After five kids, mine seems to be somewhat like melted ice cream.
As if peeing a little whenever you sneeze or laugh isn’t enough.
It might be uncomfortable now but soon it will all be a thing of the past. By this time you probably do wish that it was a new virus but it will be over before you know it. You will have a baby in your arms in no time and start planning for the next one. Everything you’ve been through forgotten.
